For my eyes only!

(Or should I say, teeth?) I feel really, really, really embarrassed. The weird thing is, I don't know why. Maybe it's because of the fact that I just got a Distal Jet in my mouth on the upper part of it. I talk like I have a bowlful of letters in my mouth that I can't get rid of. And also, it's not just talking that is embarrassing me. Singing is a problem too! I sound like I have a lisp that will stay there in my mouth for as long as it wants to.

When I'm in all my classes, I have been telling my teachers to let me not speak or read things aloud until my voice returns to normal. And it was all good until I got to Ancient Civilizations, when I forgot to tell my teacher that I didn't want to talk out loud. Unfortunately, that was the day when (of course!) we all had to introduce our Greek Characters to the whole class. Mine was Alexander the Great, which I was all psyched about, until I remembered that I hadn't told her about the Distal Jet! (A Distal Jet is like a palette expander-it expands your teeth for surgery or something) Finally, Elizabeth (the Symposiarch-a Greek person who makes rules and makes decisions, and in general, leads the whole class in whatever we're doing for the whole class period) asked me to read my "3 greatest accomplishments" aloud. I gulped down (which is so hard to do with a Distal Jet!) the lump in my throat and started with "Look, I just want to warn you guys that I'm going to be speaking real weird when I tell you this, you know, just so you'll know. Because, I mean, I never talk like this." First of all, how stupid am I to say this out loud????!!!! I mean, they probably woldn't have noticed if I hadn't told them that, anyway. I couldn't believe I had been so stupid. And guess what? They all burst out laughing hysterically. I felt like a freak, a total idiot. Anyway, I cleared my throat, and started to say: "One of my three greatest achievements was being king of Macedonia for 15 years, until I got sick of sitting on the throne for such a long time and I became the greatest conqueror of the century and even more after that, and-" All of a sudden the announcements came on, and I felt like a thousand-ton weight had been lifted off my shoulders. But awfully, everyone was staring at me, looking like they were about to giggle like crazy. But there was nothing I could do about it. It was done.
